The Portrait Commission Investment

The Base Portrait Commission — $17,500

A singular, all-inclusive fine-art acquisition. Every large-format portrait commission is created as a unique, one-of-one piece. To preserve the permanent physical value and absolute privacy of your family legacy, the commission is executed in three distinct, sequential phases:

I. The Commission Booking & Production Fee — $5,000

Includes our private preparatory consultations, comprehensive wardrobe direction, environmental setting design, on-location travel within Colorado, and the portrait sitting. The session is shot exclusively on physical large-format sheet film using the historic 1950s Tony Venti portrait lens.

The Master Exhibition Print — $8,500

Covers private darkroom hand-development and the crafting of exactly one archival silver-gelatin exhibition print. To ensure complete artistic authenticity, the master 8x10 film sheet is contact-printed directly onto museum-grade, fiber-based 11x14 paper.

This includes acid-free cotton matting, custom framing, and delivery completely ready to hang. No secondary proofs, digital files, or unauthorized duplicates are ever produced outside of requested family sub-commissions.

Extended Grand Scale Exhibition Prints

For formal rooms demanding massive architectural scale, larger print sizes—including 16x20, 20x24, and grand exhibition murals—are executed through a specialized scan-to-print process. The native negative is translated at an extreme archival resolution to preserve every grain of silver, after which a master pigment print is meticulously crafted on heavy fine-art fiber paper to match the tonal depth of the original darkroom chemistry. Pricing for grand scale pieces is available upon studio request.

(If you prefer to coordinate your own framing, the print is delivered hand-matted inside an archival linen presentation portfolio, adjusting this phase to $7,500 and the base investment to $16,500).

III. The Transfer of the Negative — $4,000

Covers the final archival sealing of the original silver halide film negative inside a protective four-flap folder and an archival vault casing. This concludes with the direct physical transfer of the master negative to your family estate or legal trustees for permanent, private custody and perpetual ownership.

Additional Family Prints (Sub-Commissions)

To protect the absolute rarity and fine-art value of your portrait, the studio operates under a strict gallery framework. No duplicates or standard photographic copies are ever printed from the negative. Exactly one Master Exhibition Print is produced, after which the film negative is permanently sealed and transferred to your custody.

However, if your family requires an additional piece for another residence or a direct descendant's estate, you may request additional prints while the negative remains in darkroom custody.

Additional Handcrafted Exhibition Print — $6,500 / per print

Kandrzej will handcraft an additional exhibition print directly from the original silver negative. Each piece receives its own unique registry archive number and comes hand-matted inside an archival linen presentation portfolio. Custom framing for additional family prints can be arranged through the studio upon request.

The Finality of the Negative Printing

There is no fixed limit on the number of family prints you may request, provided they are ordered while the negative remains in active darkroom custody. However, once the initial printing phase closes, the original film negative is permanently sealed inside its archival vault casing and transferred directly to your family trustees. Because this protocol is absolute to preserve the artwork's value, the studio cannot retrieve the negative to execute additional prints at a later date.

Calendar availability is strictly limited to ensure complete artistic focus. A standard Non-Disclosure Agreement is executed prior to session confirmation.
